Terms of service
Last updated August 28, 2026. By using Palette Town you agree to the following. It's short on purpose.
The service
Palette Town is a free color palette generator and a handful of related tools (color info, contrast checking, gradients, Tailwind scales, image color extraction). No account, subscription, or payment is required for any of it, and there's no guarantee that will ever change.
Your library
Saved palettes are tied to a random key generated in your browser, not to an account. You're responsible for keeping that key if you want your library back on another device — losing it means losing access to those palettes, since there's no email or login to recover it with. Export your library as JSON any time as a backup.
Acceptable use
Use the site and its API like a normal visitor. Don't try to scrape it at scale, hammer the API outside normal generator use, attempt to break authentication or rate limits, or use it to store or transmit anything illegal. Automated requests significantly beyond what a person clicking around would generate may be blocked.
What you get from it
Colors and palettes aren't copyrightable on their own, so anything the generator produces — hex codes, exported CSS/SCSS/Tailwind config/SVG/PNG/PDF/ASE files, or code snippets — is yours to use freely, including commercially, with no attribution required. Photos you run through image extraction remain entirely yours; Palette Town only reads pixels from them locally in your browser and never receives a copy.
Embedding
The embeddable swatch strip (/embed/) may be iframed on other sites for personal or commercial use. Don't strip out or obscure the Palette Town credit link inside the widget.
No warranty
Palette Town is provided "as is," free of charge, without warranty of any kind. Color math, contrast ratios, and exported values are computed in good faith but not guaranteed error-free — always double-check anything safety- or compliance-critical (like WCAG contrast for a real product) yourself. We're not liable for any damages arising from using or being unable to use the site, including loss of a saved library.
Changes
The service and these terms can change at any time; the "last updated" date above will move when they do. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the update. Questions go to [email protected].
